~15~

I sit in my seat and wait for Kabir as he is supposed to sit beside me. When suddenly, The scarecrow looking firecracker aka Saria Syed appeared out of nowhere and sat beside me as if she was a queen sitting on her throne.

"What are you doing here?" I ask confused while trying to still sound calm.

She looks at me like I'm the one who sat in the wrong seat. "When did you get here?"

"I was here way before you! You're the one on the aisle! It's not like I can jump over here without you noticing! And why are you here? This is Kabir's seat." I say annoyed.

"Ma told me and bhaia to swap seats. I'll ask him to swap back." she gets up and leaves in an instant.

Yes Please!

Thank God. Problem solved.

Or so I thought.

After some time, I look up expecting Kabir to be on his way to the seat, but it wasn't Kabir who came back but Miss Attitude herself who keeps calling ME Mr Attitude. As if she is filled with fluff.

"Why are you back?" I couldn't help but glare at her.

"Well, Kabir didn't really want to swap." she replies.

I look back to see him beside Ezra.

"I'll swap with him then." I get up frustrated when she pulled me back in an instant.

"What?" I ask, surprised to get pulled down like this.

"The seatbelt signs are lit up now. Just sit down," she said.

I didn't have any other choice so I sat back down.

-

Once the seatbelt sign finally turns off, I’m about to make my great escape. But then I notice—of course—Saria has fallen asleep. And she’s in the aisle seat, blocking me from any potential bolt of freedom.

(A/N: I learnt this phrase {bolt of freedom} in school today so couldn't help but use it.😅😭)

Amazing! Just Amazing! That means I'm stuck with her for the entire flight.

I lean on the head rest and face away. Maybe if I don't look, I'll forget who's next to me.

Oh, how I'm so wrong. How can anyone forget the existance of freaking Saria Syed?

-

A flight attendant comes to our row, "Sir, what would you like to have?" she asks in a polite voice.

"I'm fine," I wasn't particularly that hungry. Plus, the tray passing could wake Saria. Se don't want to disturb our sleeping beauty to bring out extra chaos and turn this flight into a circus performance.

"And your wife?"

....

Wife!? I beg your FINEST pardon Miss flight attendant?? Wife?? Are you crazy or are you crazy?

"She's fine too," I say annoyed.

Seriously? From what angle do we look like a couple??

Oh right.

Maybe because this girl's head is tilted towards me and keeps brushing with my shoulder!!

I can't even freaking shove her head off can I?

Come on Ehaan. You can get over this. Just an hour or so.

You can do this.

I go up to Kabir right after security.

"Why the hell did you sit beside Ezra?" I demand the answers I've been waiting for the whole flight.

"Rozina aunty told me to swap with Saria." he replied nonchalantly.

"And you agreed? I thought you were allergic to girls." I reply.

"Huh? That's you not me."

"Really? Then why did you say no to all those girls?" I say while lightly slapping his head.

"You also say no to girls!"

"I say no cause these are a waste of time. And those girls don't like me, they like the thought of being rich."

"Well... I say no cause they also only come near me because of my family. And I don't like them."

"So if you liked a person and her family comes in for marriage, you'll agree?" I ask to detect him. Trapping him in my question.

"Is that even a question to ask? Of course!" he said confidently.

"So you do like someone huh?" I smirk. "Who is it?"

"No!" he denies.

"You're really trying to hide it from me? Come on, I won't tell a-"

"Bhaia! Come here." Saria cuts me off and Kabir runs up to her.

Why does she have such bad timing? I was this close to getting the information out of him.

Four cars were waiting for us outside the airport.

I get into the one Ma tells me to into. Kabir sits in the front.

Ezra and Esma enters and sits beside each other opposite me. The car was a six seater (excluding the drivers' seat), which meant two other people was coming in. And with my great I knew exactly who was getting in and sitting beside me.

To my righteous knowledge, Saria Syed aka Miss firecracker got in the car and sat beside me and her sister in law Esha, who was Rayan's wife, sat beside Esma.

"What are you doing here?" I say annoyed.

"Sitting." she replied while staring at her phone.

"I know that genius. Why are you always around me?" I glare at her.

"Because of my stupid luck," she glared back and then went back to whatever she was doing.

Because I had nothing better to do, I peeked at her phone.

She was...

on pinterest?

Organising a 'Dream Wedding plan'

She was really planning her outfits for her engagement, haldi, mehendi, nikkah and reception?

"Why did you skip dholki and sangeet?" I say sarcastically.

"Why are you peeking!" she glared.

"Well, I'm helping aren't I? I reminded you about dholki and sangeet." I say nonchalantly.

"Well, we don't really do that in our family. You sould know cause it didn't happen for Fariha." she says and goes back to her planning.

I notice she didn't have a ring planned, which was unusual.

"What about the ring? Or did you forget that was needed with your poor memory?"

"No Mr Attitude, I just don't have one planned." she shrugged.

"Why? Is your choice too much beyond imagination with a 5 million karat diamond?" my voice filled with sarcasm.

"Hello sir? I 'm just not picky over rings. That simple. As long as it's wearable, and something that would suit me. I'm fine. And also, don't think 5 million karat ring would be very comfortable to wear around."

"Right-" she cuts me off and starts speaking with Esha.

"Bhabi, do I see a smile?" she teased her.

"Huh? N-no! Mind your business," she denies it and goes back to texting.

"Right..." Saria continues her teasing.

The car suddenly stopped.

"What happened?" I asked annoyed.

"There's a body." The driver spoke up.

"Huh?" Saria said in a confused voice.

"There is a body," Kabir repeated and opened the door and got out. Saria did the same right after and got out. I get out after her and the others follow behind me.

There was really, a body lying down on the road.

Esha steps forward and starts walking towards the body.

"Bhabi? What are you doing?" Kabir asked.

"Looking," she replied and knelt down beside the body checking it.

"She's dead." she announced.

"And how do you know?" I ask.

"Because she is a doctor." Saria announced.

"You are? I thought you were a florist or something?" Kabir said confused.

Esha chuckled. "Rayan said the exact same thing."

"She is a forensic worker." Saria says.

"What?" Kabir's eyes widen with shock.

"Yes, now let's call the police. Cause calling the ambulance is pointless," she said and took out her phone.

"Tui kobe theke janti oi forensic e kaj kore?" Kabir asks Saria. (Since when did you know she is a forensic worker?)

"Areh, ami to shob i jani taina?" she said and signalled something I couldn't quite get. (Oh, I know everything don't I?)

Soon, the police reach the scene. Esha explains everything. Though they start suspecting us. So many foreigners just randomly found a local.

"Sorry but we will need all of you to come with us till the autopsy report comes out,"

"What? That's outrageous! You can't just take us all because we reported a dead body! Do you really think we'd just kill this guy out of the blue? And even if we did, do you really think so many people would come to murder someone? You-"

"Ezra, calm down." Kabir tries to stop her.

"No! We came here-"

"Ezra," I finally speak.

"But bhaia-"

"It's okay, calm down," she finally stops after I tell her.

"They took the body in for forensic already. Hopefully, the result will be out soon." Esha speaks.

My phone starts ringing. I take it out to see Dad calling me.

"Yes?"

"Where are you all?" he asked in a worried voice.

"We are stuck with something."

"What is it?"

"Nothing you need to worry about. We'll be there by dinner." I hung up before he could ask another question.

The police take us to the police station and make us sit and wait till the autopsy report comes out.

"We have such terrible timings." Kabir sighed as he sat beside me.

"Probably because of Saria taking too long in the airport bathroom." I say annoyed.

"Don't blame my sister! Ezra, Esma and Esha bhabi went as well!" he defended.

"But Saria always has the worst timings. I was just figuring out who you like and she came and took you. Anyway so-"

"You know I heard Rozina aunty discussing your marriage." he said while putting his arms around my shoulder.

"Accha? And what about Alisha aunty trying to find girls for you for years huh?"

"I'm too young to get married," he shrugged.

"No, he is just too scared." Saria came up behind him.

Kabir glared at Saria and she chuckled back.

A police came to us.

"Sorry for the inconvenience. It seems you were right. You're all free to go," he says.

"Finally! Gosh!" Ezra said frustrated.

"Come on noodle. Chill." I walk over to her.

"What took you all so long?" I asked Saria the moment they all stepped out of the car, looking way too casual for people who had just arrived three hours late.

"Areh so much chaos happened. I'll tell you later." she said.

"Where were you all? We got so worried!" Choto chachi said.

"We just had a small problem on the road. Nothing to be worried about." Kabir bhaia said.

"Come on let's go inside." Maa said.

(A/N: 'Ma' with one 'a' is her mother and 'Maa' with two 'a's is her mother-in-law. It will be the same for all the characters.)

We basically booked half of the whole hotel. All the elderly couples have a room with king-size bed each. Eliza Api and Ayaan jiju are getting a double room. Kabir bhaia, Ehaan, Shazad and Rehan are sharing a room. I'm praying for the room itself. Poor thing needs to handle Shazad and Rehan and Kabir bhaia at the same time. Ehaan is pretty quiet, but since bhaia is his bestfriend, he might not be so quiet either with him.

Esha bhabi, Esma and Ezra are sharing a room and Saria got a single room.

Yeah she isn't a very sharing person. Not because she hates anyone. It's just a habit. Sometimes, she wouldn't even let me touch her things. I once had to listen to a 2 hour lecture of how important her pen is to her and how it plays a crucial role in her existence.

Mind you, I borrowed it for like what? A minute max! Just cause I needed to quickly note down a review that a fellow chef of mine had to share.

"Okay everyone get some rest. Tomorrow you can go whereever you guys planned." Adeel Chacha said.

The elders piled into one lift and it was still not full. It was big enough to fit a cricket team, so Ma pulled Saria in at the last second. "Areh, Saria, come come."

"Ehaan come inside. There's still space." Rozina chachi said.

I see where this is going. And I like it.

Ehaan hesitantly went in and the lift closed. Leaving the rest of us. We were waiting for the lift beside to come down as it was just a floor above us.

In the middle of Ayaan jiju saying something I didn't quite catch, everything went dark.

"Hello?" Ezra's voice was heard.

The lights came back on again.

"What just happened?" Esma asked.

"We apologise. There was a small problem in the circuits." An employee announced through the speakers. "The lifts are not working yet so we request you to take the stairs."

Our floor wasn't that high up, so the stairs weren't a big deal. But the actual problem showed up once we reached our hallway.

Guess who are the problem creators. Yes of course Saria and Ehaan. But they weren't really infront of us in this problem.

Yeah, these two got stuck inside the lift!

Kabir Bhaia rushed to the front desk to get help. I stayed behind, because honestly? I knew chaos will start soon. And I wanted all the updates.

Sure enough—

"Agh why am I always stuck with you!" Ehaan's annoyed voice was heard.

"It's not my fault! I didn't shut the lift down did I?" Saria screamed back at him.

"They sound like a married couple," Ezra commented while chuckling as Esma joined her.

Soon, two hotel workers arrived with tools and started fiddling (or whatever they do) with the doors. Every so often, they'd glance at each other like they weren't sure whether to keep working or just let the two of them fight it out inside.

"They both have so much attitude," Ezra whispered to Esma.

"You're telling me," she whispered back, grinning.

Kabir Bhaia gave the workers a sheepish smile. "Don't mind them, they're just... in a bad mood."

“A bad mood?!” Ehaan’s voice was heard from inside. “She won’t stop talking! I’m trying to breathe in peace, but she keeps lecturing me about elevator safety!”

“Excuse me?!” Saria screeched. “I was reminding you not to lean on the doors because it’s dangerous! And it's not me who was almost falling on top of the person infront cause I have terrible balance!”

"I have perfectly fine balance skills thankyou." he shouted back.

"Yeah yeah, that's why you almost fell and took me down with you. If I didn't steady you both of us would've been on the ground with you freaking on TOP of ME!"

And it continued.

After some time- actually not some time, 2 hours-, the workers finally opened the door of the lift.

"Agh! He is so annoying!" Saria came out and went straight to her room.

"How was the makeout session?" Ehsan asked Ehaan.

"I will kill you." Ehaan glared Ehsan so he quickly rushed behind me. "Save me from your devar."

Ehaan went inside his room and Kabir bhaia suddenly started laughing.

"What's so funny?" Rehan asked bhaia.

"Don't know what they'll decide after this." bhaia said by confusing all of us.

"Can't you ever speak properly?" Ezra asked.

"It's nothing." He said nonchalantly.

"Okay it's getting late. Everyone to your rooms now." Ehsan said.

"Look who's so eager to spend some alone time with his wife." Esma teased him.

"Okay I am, so what?" Ehsan admitted which almost made me choke on my saliva.

Did he just admit that out loud??

"Ohhhhooooo. Let's go let's go." Esha bhabi pulled Ezra and Esma inside their room.

"Are you here to look at our romance?" Ehsan teased bhaia.

"Yuck. Get a room." he glared at Ehsan and went inside.

"Let's go love." Ehsan gestured me towards our room.
